The Queen Charlotte Islands Readers

The Queen Charlotte Islands Readers are a series of eleven readers plus a teacher's guide for primary students aged 6-9. The books present the culture of the Haida people as it exists today, within the context of the Haida past. The books can be integrated into existing social studies, science, fine arts, and language arts curricula, or they can form the basis for a complete unit on the Haida people. The series was developed by a team of Haida educators, artists, and writers working with non-Native educators to develop resources showing contemporary First Nations life. Each book is beautifully illustrated, includes a map showing the Queen Charlotte Islands, and contains pronunciations for Haida words.
